PARTY FOOD is a multi-dimensional art project that began as a few drawings and short stories in 2006. What followed has become a blend of performance, installation, and media that cannot be defined but through experience. The performances are a blend of music and video that is pre-recorded to help me tell a story live on stage. I play the parts of several characters in every show, and perform each episode only once. The narrative is more kaleidoscopic than it is linear. I often review the same scenes over and over across several episodes, but frame it differently each time, or explore it through a different character’s perspective. Music is a very important part of my process, and I think PARTY FOOD shares a lot in common with the nature and intention of pop music. I am also inspired by comic storytelling, and supplement the performance pieces with short comics, illustrations, and animations.
