Synopsis: Waltar learns that the mermaid, his principal obsession, is actually his sister. Still stuck with the mysterious baby he found on the shore, and unable to cope, he decides to drown himself in the ocean. Meanwhile, on the UFO, the pig is being probed ( in more ways than 1 LOL ). It’s only a matter of T-I-M-E before the A L I E N Z find her most valuable asset – the cash moniez hidden inside her slot.

This show was inspired by the long process of creating PARTY PART 4 and my “painful” return to practicing Art. I opened with an A L I E N singing “Crazy” by Patsy Cline to a turd before flushing it away. I also “surfed” the web onstage for almost 7 minutes while “Surfin’ USA” played at half speed. I learned that I should probably never do that again. I blame the Andy Kaufman influence.

I kept coming back to something Brian Eno said when I saw him speak @ USC last year. Something about the artistic┬áprocess being like standing on a surfboard, where you have to find the perfect balance of surrender and control. That stuck with me, and with only a month between PART 4 and 5, I had to learn to surrender a little more in my creative process. Around the same time, Ian McKinney and I had created a warped version of “Surfin’ USA” by the Beach Boys, so those scenes came together quickly (and maybe a bit sloppily). But that idea of surrender vs. control also speaks to the act of pooping, which is again presented as a metaphor for the creative process.

This performance was created for “Videos Collide in Real 3D Space.”
